Since 1st of September 2017 Mr. Ahlers works as an Senior Manager at Netze BW GmbH in the field of grid and regulation in the Berlin office. Before he was responsible for incentive regulation, network charges, data and market processes as well as mobility at BDEW. Since December 2013, Mr Ahlers, Head of Commercial Regulatory Management and Market Communications Department at BDEW in Berlin, is responsible for incentive regulation, grid charges, smart grids, research and development, data and market processes as well as regulation management. During this time, the BDEW roadmap "Realistic Steps for Implementing Smart Grids in Germany" was developed. Until December 2009, he headed the business management department and the Gas Network Division in the BDEW in Berlin. During this time, BDEW was involved in the development of regulatory management. Since 2005 Mr. Ahlers has been Head of Gastransport & Gasspeicherung in the BGW - German Association of Gas and Water Industries in Berlin. There he was responsible for the topics: structure of the regulation management, cost calculation and standard processes. At European and national level, Mr. Ahlers represents the BDEW in expert committees. Mr. Ahlers studied economics at the University of Cologne with an emphasis on energy economics
